1 FUCHS, Rav Yitzchak Yaacov . . . prepared by Rav Moshe DOMBEY in collaboration with the author. HALICHOS BAS YISRAEL: A Woman's Guide to Jewish Observance, Volume 1. ISBN 087306397X.
Published by Targum Press, Oak Park, Michigan, and Feldheim, Jerusalem & New York, First Edition [1985], 2nd printing, 1987. 087306397X 087306397X / 9780873063975
Hard cover, illustrated boards, 8vo, xxvi + 199pp. Condition: FINE. To a non-Jew like me, this book makes fascinating reading. I just love the surreal detail. Edward Lear himself could never have dreamed this up which is only a typical example): "Since the Challah has become tom'ey, it must be burned rather than given to a cohen. It is customary to burn the Challah in the oven before baking the dough. It should be wrapped in aluminium foil so the oven won't absorb the flavour of the burning Challah. HaGaon Rav Y. Steiff, writing in Sh'eiloth U'Teshuvoth HaMaor, rules that the Challah should be burned until it turns to ash. It may then be thrown into the waste basket. If it has not been burned completely, it should be wrapped in two layers of paper and thrown away." I wonder whether God checks up on whether all this has been done properly! Personally, I think some people should get out more, but what do I know? Packed weight 600g.
