A large, beautiful book about the Touraine region of France. Traversed by the Loire and its tributaries the Cher, the Indre and the Vienne, the Touraine makes up a part of the Paris Basin. It is well-known for its viticulture. Green cloth with gilt titles and gilt & pale blue decoration; 10.5" x 8.2"; 1.6" thick; 366pp. Corners a bit bumped but none has worn through; spine only very slightly creased at top & bottom, not worn or torn; front cover nearly perfect; a few minor scratches on back. Contents near perfect, with foxing on endpapers and a little on tissue papers. Rough hand-cup page edges (some still joined); gilt upper edge. 50 coloured illustrations by A. B. Atkinson; 30 line illustrations in the next; and a folding map, all perfect. Packed weight 1900g.
