1 CATALOGUE of the FIFTH BIRMINGHAM HORSE SHOW held in BINGLEY HALL, BROAD STREET, AUGUST 1870.
Published by The Society (whose name is not stated), and printed by Martin Billing, Son, & Co., Livery Street., Birmingham. 
Paperback, 8.25" x 5.4", about 14 pages have been torn out (mostly from the advertising pages and a couple from the index) but 56 remain, including all of the main text. Title page reads: Catalogue of the Birmingham and Midland Counties Exhibition of Horses, Ponies, Carriages, &c., held in the Bingley Exhibition Hall, Broad Street, Birmingham, on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, August 16th, 17th, 18th & 19th, 1870. Categories include: Hunters; Hacks, Roadsters & Cobs; Ladies' Horses; Harness Horses; Ponies; Stallions, for getting Cobs or Ponies; Dray Horses; Agricultural Horses.Condition: apart from the missing pages already referred to, this book is all in one piece with many dog-eared corners and not much of the spine remaining. The contents and the advertising sections are fascinating, and despite its condition, this item is a fascinating rarity. Packed weight 200g.

Condition: boards would be about VG if not for light but widespread blotching; contents VG+ apart from foxing mainly confined to the first few pages. Hinges excellent throughout. On the whole, a well preserved example of a very important and readable book of racing history. Packed weight 1100g.

Stitching loose in several places. However, there are no detached pages, and all seem to be in reasonable condition including the delightful illustrations. Packed weight 600g.
